WEEK SIX REFLECTION

WEEK SIX REFLECTION (7th - 11th October)

What is a Podcast?

Portable
On
Demand
broadCAST

A podcast is a type of digital media consisting audios, videos, portable document format (PDF) on the web. A podcast is like a radio.

Within the classroom, the usage of podcast is unlimited. Teachers can use a podcast to connect with their students as a class newsletter announcing upcoming events and other pertinent information.

Teachers can use a podcast to give step by step instructions in Compositions lessons on How to make..... Students should now be able to write better Compositions.

Presenting oral presentations is another way a podcast can be used in the classroom. This will give both teachers and students the opportunity to make up for extra classes during the school year. Students can also use this opportunity to interact with the teacher on weak subject areas.

Students can share audio documents with their classmates using podcast which should also improve students learning and thinking during and after lessons.

In the event a student is absent from school one day, his/her classmates can record the lesson using podcast and then share the document with the absent child. This way, the child would not left behind in the lesson since he can access the lesson anywhere.

Using a podcast is a new initiative for me! Before this software was introduced to me I begin to wonder. Why do I need to know about podcast? How can I use a podcast? Where am I going to use a podcast and to whom I am going to use podcast with? After the lesson with Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Marsh-Roberts these questions were answered and I now appreciate Podcast and its usage. Looking forward to continue this journey with EDET and Mrs. T. Marsh Roberts!

WEEK FIVE REFLECTION (30th September - 4th October)

During the fifth week of EDET, we were introduce to new storage software such as Google drive and Bropbox. Also during the week, we were exposed to a BLOG: Better Listen On Google. A blog is a diary on a website which allow users to frequently update their journal. There are three (3) easy steps one should follow in creating a blog: "ARE"! Access your gmail account, Register a domain name and Enter the required information. To begin this process, the user must have a gmail account. The domain name is a way which  allows the user to crate their blog name since naming the blog is an important aspect of blog branding: eg. techluv.blogspot.com. The required information is basically what you will post on your new blog.

Google Drive
Google Drive is a Cloud Storage Service which is powered by Google.  Using Google Drive, users can easily store files such as photos, documents or videos and can access them from any devices such as a smartphone, tablet, PC or ipad. These documents travel wherever the user travels. The only restriction the user may have in  accessing these files is no internet connection.

Dropbox
Dropbox is a  program that allows users to easily sync personal files such as photos, documents or videos  between computers. It works on all operating stems and requires an Internet connection.

The skills discussed during week five lesson are new to me since I've only heard IT Professionals using these  terms. I am now able to sharpen my sword to fight the battle of Technology.  Looking forward to continue this journey with EDET and Mrs. T. Marsh Roberts!
